Bunbury Teen and Young Mums Group caters for young women 14-22, who are pregnant or parenting. They meet weekly at Milligan, and operate from a group based peer support framework. The program employs a Coordinator, two Peer Support Workers and two Peer Advocates:
  • Annette Owen - Coordinator and mother of three.
  • Sophie Garrett - a young mum and past participant of the program; Sophie is now employed in a Peer Support Worker role.
  • Jamie Watson - a young mum; past participant of the program;  and peer advocate collating the monthly newsletter - Secret Mums Business.

The groups focus on parenting (child development, discipline, protective behaviours); healthy relationships (domestic violence, support, communication); self care (maternal health, depression, support); and pathways to employment, education and training.

Participants are involved in interactive sessions with their babies, group sessions and guest presentations. As well as undertaking peer advocacy activities which support themselves and others in the community.

Bunbury Teen and Young Mums Group also holds community events, including a "Young Mums Ball" which is a fundraising initiative for the program.
