Carrina Bradbury - Manager
"I began at Milligan in coordinator of the Bunbury Young Mums Group (2005-2007), and later the Bunbury Early Years Network (2006-2007). In March 2007, I moved into the Manager's position, which I am currently in. I love working at Milligan, because of the diversity of our programs and service users. We have a wonderful staff team, who make it a wonderful place to work. It is a fanatsic job, that has great community outcomes, which makes our work feel worthwhile."
Renae Bernardi - Assistant Manager
"I moved to the Bunbury area from Collie in 2008 where I was Manager of Collie Family Centre. I began working at Milligan in June 2008 as a tutor for the computer classes. From there I took on the role as Special Projects Officer coordinating events such as the annual quiz night and Teddy Bears Picnic. During this time I have also been involved as a support worker for the In Safe Hands project which is one of Milligan’s exciting projects developed to prevent domestic violence and promote healthy relationships to young people. In November last year I took on a new experience as Assistant Manager. I love working in the heart of the community and I’m proud to be a part of such a fantastic organisation that has been a positive part of the lives of so many people in the Bunbury area."
Marian Gaspar - Office Manager
"Like so many before me, I first came to Milligan as a tutor, then offered my services as a volunteer with the Milligan Spring Fair in 2000. A position became available as a receptionist at Milligan and as I had such a wonderful time here as a tutor and volunteer I thought this would be a great place to work, so I applied and, much to my delight, was accepted. That was 10 years ago and it is still a great place to work. I am now the Office Manager and no two days are ever the same, which is what I love about this job. There have been many changes at Milligan during my ten years. I have seen some wonderful staff come and go, a new building expansion, many new projects, developed new friendships and have seen new programs and technology implemented."
Annette Owen - Young Mums Coordinator
"I first started work at Milligan three years ago when I was fortunate enough to get the position of coordinator for the Bunbury Teen & Young Mums Group. 18 months ago I also took on the role of coordinator of the project In Safe Hands, which is a program designed to prevent domestic violence and promoting healthy relationships to young people. Working both with the teenage mums and young people in a variety of settings has been a fantastic experience and I learn things from them daily. As a social worker I feel privileged to work in an environment that has such positive outcomes for it’s clients. I love working at Milligan – the projects offered are diverse, my colleagues are fantastic and supportive, and the work is challenging and fulfilling. I am proud to be associated with Milligan."
Meg Ellis - Special Projects Coordinator
"I first started at Milligan in 2007 as a volunteer, running the playgroup for the Young Mum’s. I then became a Peer Support Worker for the Young Mum’s in 2009, and in 2010 the Special Projects Coordinator. Milligan is more of a family to me, than a work place. I am very proud of the ongoing input we have in the community and that I have been given the opportunity to be involved along with the centre and all our fantastic staff."
Jess Cartwright - Community Education Coordinator "I took the plunge to pursue an exciting new career in community services by undergoing a certificate three at TAFE and completed my work placement wth Milligan Community Learning & Resource Centre. I assisted with the Nixi group, Teddy Bears Picnic and gained an insight into the funding available to community organisations along with many other hands on experiences.I was delighted to find myself in such a homely and lively work environment with colleagues who were more than happy to share their experiences in community services and the education pathways that got them where they each are. I was absolutley ecstatic when Carrina offered me a job here in a part time role as the Community Education Coordinator. I have always enjoyed learning new skills and taking part in lots of interesting short courses and exercise groups but I was blown away to discover that the tutors involved at Milligan are much more than just tutors. Milligan attracts many amazing people who are eager to do what they can for the local community. I could not be more pleased with every aspect of my new job and also look forward to participating in many of the courses offered here at Milligan! I feel extremely proud to be a part of this fabulous organisation that gives so much back to the community."
Patricia Bennell - Strong Noongar Koolangkas Coordinator I was born in Bunbury into a big Noongar family of the South West Region and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Social Work. I joined Milligan earlier this year (2011), as the Project Coordinator for the Strong Noongar Koolangkas Programme. This project will be designed in developing a safe community for our Koolangkas (children) in the Sout West.
